LAHORE: The Edhi Foundation Lahore on Wednesday released its 2024 Performance Report highlighting the extensive humanitarian efforts across the region.
The report revealed that the organization provided ambulance services to 123,962 patients and deceased persons. According to Edhi’s spokesperson, the foundation transported 942 people who died in various accidents to different places free of cost. Additionally, 3,872 injured persons were transferred to hospitals, while 92,352 patients were transferred between homes and hospitals.
The foundation also transported 31,610 deceased persons from hospitals to their homes. For the abandoned bodies, the Edhi Foundation arranged for the cremation of 579 persons, while 498 were given a ritual bath and shroud at the Edhi Mortuary.
Under its biometric identification programme, the foundation identified 620 dead bodies found across the city, handing over 465 of them to their families. Additionally, Edhi’s Bilqis Edhi Home in Lahore reunited 1,823 out of 2,364 people with their families through its ambulance services.
Edhi Free Dispensary provided medical aid and medicines to 76,388 patients while Edhi Free Kitchen provided food to 254,865 people. The spokesman urged the public to call the Edhi Emergency Helpline 115 and immediately report the emergency situation. The organization reiterated its commitment to serve humanity without discrimination.
