The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Wednesday foiled a major attempt to smuggle crystal meth (commonly known as ice) abroad, arresting a suspect in the process.
According to the ANF spokesperson, the operation led to the seizure of 700 kilograms of methamphetamine, which was concealed in a shipment bound for Malaysia. The drug was cleverly hidden in 854 bags of calcium carbonate to avoid detection.
Upon thorough inspection, authorities discovered that 28 bags contained illegal drugs. The container booked by a private company based in Karachi was bound for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The suspect, a resident of Karachi who arranged the shipment, has been taken into custody. ANF officials confirmed that investigations are underway to identify and arrest others involved in the smuggling operation. Further inquiries are also underway.
