Arts Council of Pakistan (ACP) Karachi organized an exhibition of Pakistani painters from Karachi at Ahmed Parvez Art Gallery as part of the 17th World Urdu Conference – Jashan-e-Karachi.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Sindh Chief Secretary (CS) Syed Asif Haider Shah and ACP President Muhammad Ahmad Shah. The CS said that ACP was not a new institution for him as he had been seeing Ahmed Shah for the past 12 years.
He said that organizing the World Culture Festival was a major challenge and the credit for its success goes to Ahmed Shah. Asif said that he is happy that the World Urdu Conference is being held as it is a breath of fresh air not only for Pakistan but also for Pakistanis living abroad.
He remarked that the exhibition held at ACP was a treasure as it housed the works of masters of painting. Thanks to the media for sharing. He said that this exhibition is a soft start of the 17th World Urdu Conference.
“We wanted the exhibition to be inaugurated by the Chief Secretary of Sindh, who has also worked extensively in the fields of art and culture,” he said, adding that the ACP is the country’s flagship for art and culture. It is the largest institution.
Ahmad Shah explained that for the first time in 17 years, the inaugural session of the World Urdu Conference will be held outside the ACP at the YMCA ground. He said that the Urdu Conference will be an important event in Karachi, which will discuss the historical places of Karachi, music, dance, film, theatre, literature, fiction and criticism.
He said that under the guidance of the Chief Secretary, all the departments of the Government of Sindh provided full support for the security of the World Culture Festival. At the end of the ceremony, Farrukh Shahab, Shahid Rasam and Tanveer Farooqui presented the bouquet to the Chief Secretary.
Traffic plan
Karachi Traffic Police issued a traffic diversion plan for the 17th Urdu International Conference on Wednesday.
The diversions are: MR Kayani Chowk to Awan Sadar Road, Sindh Assembly (one way road) to Masjid Ahl Hadith Court Road. Parking arrangements have been made for the guests and participants of the event at the following locations: Sarwar Shaheed Road, Opposite Polo Ground Opposite Awan Sadar Road, Opposite Court Road (Sindh Assembly Building) and Faculty Library. Commercial vehicles are not allowed to pass through the following roads from the start to the end of the event. Fawara Chowk to Awan Sadar Road, Fawara Chowk to Deen Muhammad Wafai Road, Khajoor Chowk (Awan Sadar Road) to Fawara Chowk and Shaheen Complex to MR Kayani Chowk.
