An 80-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of another pensioner in a block of flats.
Emergency services were called to the property on Silverdale Close in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, at 16:20 GMT on Friday.
A man in his 70s was found critically injured and died on the spot.
Thames Valley Police said the two parties knew each other and a murder investigation had been launched.
Official identification is still pending, but the man’s next of kin have been notified and are being assisted by specially trained officers.
Senior investigating officer Det Insp Nik Hind said an “extensive investigation” was underway and detectives would remain at the scene for “some time”.
“We believe there is no significant risk to the community at this time and I would urge anyone with any concerns to speak to any of our officers at the scene.”
Det Insp Hind has appealed to the public for any information about the case.
