SupplyThe mother who died after being hit by an e-bike in a hit-and-run accident has been named by the police.
Alana Armstrong, 25, was a passenger on one of two e-bikes when she was chased by a 4×4 in Pleasley, Derbyshire, on Tuesday evening.
The rider – a man in his 20s – was taken to hospital where one of his legs had to be amputated below the knee after his bike was hit by a dark-coloured vehicle on a country lane.
Derbyshire Police have launched an investigation into the murder and a man and woman previously arrested in connection with the incident have been released without charge.
The force said its thoughts were with the family of Ms Armstrong, from Tubshelf, Derbyshire, following the crash, which happened in Batley Lane at around 20:00 GMT.
“Alana was just 25 – and the mother of a six-year-old boy,” Ch Supt Dave Kirby said.
“Her little boy, along with his extended family, will never get to see her again, hug her again, spend Christmas together, or celebrate all these milestones.”
Police said the car that hit the e-bikes had followed the bikes through the village of Pleasley, before being last seen at Rothorn Lane, where it turned right onto the A617 towards New Houghton.
A man was driving the vehicle, with a woman in the passenger seat, the force added.
Officers want to hear from anyone who may have seen the Land Rover Discovery, which is believed to have been made between 2004 and 2009, in and around the Pleasley area at the time of the crash.
He could be seen delivering leaflets to homes in the area on Friday afternoons.
Derbyshire PoliceCh Supt Kirby added: “We have already received a significant amount of information from the public and I would like to thank everyone who has already come forward to help with our investigation.
“However, I know there is more information out there – and there are people who know who is responsible.
“If you were the driver of the car, come forward and talk to us. We’ll come talk to you sometime… tell us what happened.
“As an officer, as a member of the local community, and as a father, I am devastated for his little boy, his family and his friends and we are doing everything we can to find those responsible. Will try as possible.”
Ch Supt Kirby was asked if the people in the car knew Ms Armstrong, but said the investigation was in its early stages and detectives were keeping an “open mind”.
