Huntsville, Ala. Alabama A&M Linebacker Medrick Burnett Jr Hospitalized after suffering a head injury in an October game, the school said hours after the announcement that he had died.
The athletic department sent a report Wednesday on the status of Burnett, who was injured in the game against. State of Alabama On October 26. A second statement said the initial news of Burnett’s death “came from a close family member on Tuesday evening.”
“Our staff acted in accordance with the family member’s wishes to inform the A&M community and beyond of this unfortunate incident,” the statement Wednesday evening said. “After hearing from a UAB Hospital representative this afternoon, we learned that he is alive.
“We express our immediate regret for spreading false information. However, we are absolutely delighted to learn that Madrick is in stable condition.”
A statement on a gofundme.com page for Burnett said Wednesday: “Please pray that he is going through a difficult time but we are hanging on to the end. May God give us strength to keep the faith.” ”
