In another sad incident, a tire shop owner was shot dead by armed robbers on Sunday for resisting during an attempted robbery.
The incident took place in Jamshed Quarters area. The victim, 22-year-old Hasan Arif, was to get married in just 12 days. The tragic incident turned the joys of the house into mourning.
The police said that the youth used to run his shop Hussain Tire Shop near People’s Chowrangi. More than five armed men on motorcycles entered the shop posing as participants of the Sindh Culture Day rally to loot.
When Arif tried to resist, the robbers opened fire on him, killing him on the spot. Police and rescue personnel reached the spot and shifted the body to Civil Hospital. SHO Imtiaz Rufi said that the accused used this rally as a cover of crime. The deceased was a resident of Gulistan Johar Block 19 and was the second of three brothers. Police said they are trying to get CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify and arrest the culprits. No case had been registered till the time of filing this news.
