Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Police revealed the bitter reality of the disappearance of 35-year-old prize bond dealer Mohsin Ashraf, who went missing 10 days ago.
Investigation revealed that Mohsin was brutally murdered by his cousin Meher Ali, who burned his body in a cauldron used to melt animal fat to make soap.
According to the police, this heinous crime was committed due to greed. Maher took Mohsin to his house in Samraz Colony on Adiala Road on the pretext of buying prize bonds worth Rs 45 million. Once there, Maher kills Mohsin, steals the cash, and attempts to cover up his crime by burning the body in a cauldron.
After the victim went missing, the family of the victim had initially registered a case of kidnapping in the city police station. His father, Sheikh Muhammad Ashraf, reported his son missing, prompting a search by law enforcement agencies. Police investigators focused their efforts on tracing Mohsin’s last known movements and checking his personal contacts.
Suspicion ultimately fell on Maher, whose behavior raised red flags during questioning. Under pressure during the investigation, Meher confessed to the murder and detailed his gruesome attempt to dispose of the body.
The chilling crime has sent shockwaves through the local community, with residents struggling to comprehend the extent of the treachery and brutality involved. Law enforcement officials have described the incident as one of the most disturbing, underscoring the need for vigilance and trust among families and communities.
The investigation is ongoing as police recover evidence and trace the stolen money. Meanwhile, Maher faces charges of premeditated murder and other criminal offences.
