PEABODY – Several children were injured when a large Lego display collapsed at a New Year’s Eve display for children in Peabody, Massachusetts, on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Peabody Fire Department, the balloons were being released from netting inside the “In the Game” family entertainment center and arcade. Company Posted a video of the setup on Facebook before opening to the public on Tuesday.
The net was attached to an eight-foot-tall LEGO structure, but crews were having trouble releasing the balloons after the children and their families came inside. Someone pulled too hard and the LEGO display fell 12 feet from the top onto guests. said the fire department.

A total of ten people were injured. Six of them were children and four were adults, but all injuries were described as “minor” scrapes and cuts, according to authorities. Some of the injured were taken to Salem Hospital for treatment and others to Lahey Medical Center in Peabody.
Keegan and Corbin Oblins explained what happened. “I saw the balloon come down and I wasn’t really paying attention to the LEGOs and then I looked back and the LEGOs were just coming down and the kid next to me was hurt and in the ambulance,” Corbin said. Gone,” Corbin said.
A block fell on a child near them. “He had a cut on his forehead,” Corbin said.
Some of the children were still calling for the balloon, unaware of what had happened. “I saw everybody starting to leave the exit doors and I was scared for people and I felt sorry for them,” Keegan said.

Lauren Turco was there with her family at the time.
“We saw the entire drop of the balloon until we were leaving immediately after the balloon fell and nothing happened,” he told WBZ TV in a message.
“There were huge pieces of Lego everywhere, children were crying, there were a lot of people in the office with ice packs on their heads and people were letting their kids steal the Lego pieces as gifts. “It was pure chaos. I had no idea of the actual events.”
The in-game was closed for a while after the incident, but reopened shortly after. “We are currently working with authorities as the situation is being evaluated. We can say this was not a structural collapse incident,” said Scott Brown, the company’s vice president of marketing.
Peabody is about half an hour north of Boston.
