A kind-hearted neighbor helped rescue a dog that spent nearly a day stuck on thin ice covering a New Jersey lake in severe weather.
Brooklyn, a 20-month-old pooch, was spotted on the ice on Lake Parsippany and appeared to be too scared of strangers to come out of the frozen ice. UPI
Neighbor Kishan Patel, who had a drone, attached some chickens to his drone and flew it over the ice to lure the pooch to shore. He was initially successful but Brooklyn immediately ran to the lake when she saw rescuers on shore.
After the sun went down, Patel brought his drone out again to pinpoint Brooklyn’s location for a police officer who was out on the snow to catch the dog.
The officer caught up to Brooklyn, who ran up the beach and kept running. She was found safe on the porch of a local resident the next morning.
“As a dog owner myself, I can empathize with what an owner must be feeling during this ordeal,” Patel said. Good morning America.
“I’m really happy that the dog is now off the ice, warm and back home,” he added.
