A homicide investigation is underway after a 63-year-old man was found dead in Ipswich.

Police were still at the scene in Hawthorne Drive in Ipswich on Thursday.

A murder investigation has been launched after he was found dead in the house.

Suffolk Police were called to an address in Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich, shortly before 18:00 GMT on Wednesday.

He identified the victim as 63-year-old William McNicol, known as Billy, of the town.

Preliminary results of a Home Office post-mortem examination on Saturday indicated she died of multiple injuries.

Forensic officers were investigating a property in the area.

A police presence remains at the premises on Hawthorne Drive near the junction with Marigold Avenue.

Detectives want to hear from anyone with information about the case or who saw any suspicious activity near the property between Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, January 1.

A formal investigation is still pending.
