Reports suggest that when Buckingham Palace invited Harry to stay.

Prince Harry has reportedly turned down an offer to stay at Buckingham Palace during his upcoming visit to London to hear a High Court case against newsgroup Newspapers (NGN).

The Duke of Sussex, who is suing the publisher over allegations of phone hacking, is due to travel to Britain later this month, but is understood to have turned down the option of a royal residency.

Instead, Harry, 40, is likely to stay elsewhere after his recent visits to Althorp House, the home of his uncle, Earl Charles Spencer.

His former UK residence, Frogmore Cottage, was vacated in 2023 after he and wife Meghan Markle were evicted from the property.

Reports suggest that when Buckingham Palace invited Harry to stay there during the trip, he opted for another residence, a decision predicted by royal commentator Richard FitzWilliams.

Fitzwilliams has previously said that Harry may resist staying in the palace due to ongoing strained relations with the monarchy.

Additionally, Harry’s security arrangements have changed since he stepped down as senior royal in 2020. They no longer have automatic police protection, their protection is now decided on a case-by-case basis.

After a long legal battle, the Duke lost his fight for automatic police protection while in the UK. However, they were allowed to appeal the decision in June 2024.
