Cardiff City are targeting a move for Danish striker Youssef Salch.
The 22-year-old, who plays for Swedish side Serie A, is reportedly worth between £3m and £4m.
Championship strugglers Cardiff hope to make their first signing of the January transfer window ahead of Saturday’s South Wales derby against Swansea City.
It appears they will not sign Peterborough United striker Ricky Jade Jones, who was a target.
League One Peterborough rejected an offer from the Bluebirds for the 22-year-old, who is out of contract at the end of this campaign.
Cardiff manager Omar Raza confirmed earlier this month that the Welsh club Talked about signing a payday forward.but may have to look elsewhere now.
Reza will not be drafted in at the links with Salich, who has scored 13 goals in 29 appearances for Serie A.
“The striker position, possibly the winger, hopefully in the next few days we’ll get a few players through the door. Maybe one, doubt it’ll be two,” Raza said.
“I talk to the board every day regarding the transition, I talk to Mr. [Vincent] Tan [Cardiff’s owner]Ken [Choo, chief executive]Mehmet [Dalman, chairman]Paddy [Deboys, head of recruitment]… We’ve all been talking about, the list of players that I’ve listed, they’ve worked really hard to bring them in.
“In terms of players it will be clear in the next few days. We may have a player come in before the derby game and possibly get some minutes.”
