A Northern Ireland MP is set to launch legal action against controversial online influencer Andrew Tait and his brother Tristan over social media posts.
KRW Law said the posts were made on Friday, the day after that The Alliance Party’s Sorcha Eastwood said she was a “survivor of abuse” in the House of Commons.
While discussing violence against women and girls, Eastwood said she was once approached by a member of the public who told her he wanted to rape her.
His lawyers confirmed they had been instructed to issue legal proceedings and had corresponded with lawyers for the Tate brothers on Tuesday.
He concluded: “Given the sensitivity of the issues involved, we have no further comment at this stage.”
Andrew Tate was previously banned from TikTok, YouTube and Facebook after the platforms accused him of posting hate speech and abusive comments.
