Taylor Swift was Megan Collins’ biggest inspiration as she wrote her most “toasted” thriller.
The 41-year-old author revealed that she wrote her upcoming book while listening to Swift’s love songs.
Sharing her journey to becoming a Swiftie, Collins shared, “I became a Taylor Swift fan when I was 26, when love had ruined me. For months that year, I played. Dear John In conversation with, on the loop when I got to and from work People magazine.
“I was amazed at how a complete stranger wrote a song that described my exact pain, which helped me feel a little less like I’d lost my mind and heart. At the time, I couldn’t have imagined that a decade later, Taylor’s music would help me write my most gripping thriller to date,” she added.
Discussing the novel’s plot, Collins explained that he considered Swift’s lyrics to get to the deeper meaning behind them, and that this is one of the qualities that his novel also inherited. Behind everything there is another meaning that the reader will be on edge to discover.

“I Labyrinththe narrator repeatedly declares that she is “falling in love again”, but she punctuates this statement with “oh oh” and “oh no”, acknowledging that, for her, it is necessary. Not a good thing. Hearing that song at my desk, I knew my book needed that perspective,” Collins said.

Even if it had the same characters and the same big surprises, it doesn’t delve into the more obsessive — even possessive — side of love. The aspect which is delusion equal to desire. The side where passion threatens, where the pursuit of a partner feels as urgent as a heartbeat.”
