One of Britain’s oldest Royal Navy veterans has celebrated his 102nd birthday.
Sergeant Geoffrey Broadhurst is one of the country’s oldest Marines and one of the last surviving members of the Taunton-based 40 Commando that fought in the Second World War.
HMS Collingwood’s Royal Marines Band surprised them with a special day of classical music at a care home in Fareham, Hampshire.
When asked how he felt about celebrating his birthday, he laughed and said: “Not too different from my 101st except it was a big deal!”
