After a long and difficult eight-year court battle, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have finally settled their divorce.
Despite being declared legally single in 2019, the exes officially signed the papers on December 30, 2024.
The Mariah actress filed for divorce in 2016 following an incident on a private jet in which Pitt allegedly became violent with her and their children.
Jolie and Pitt have three biological children – Shiloh, 18, and twins Vivian and Knox, now 16 – and three adopted children – Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Zahra, 19. The children have reportedly been separated from their father.
Jolie’s lawyers released a statement. People magazineHe revealed an important decision.
“More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt,” shared attorney James Simon. “She and the children gave up all the property they shared with Mr. Pitt, and has since focused on finding peace and healing for her family.”
He continued, “This is just part of a long process that started eight years ago. Honestly, Angelina is exhausted, but she’s relieved that part of it is over.
The decision also comes amid an ongoing property dispute over the French estate and winery, Chateau Miraval.
In the years following the divorce filing, the former couple fought over the French property. The couple continues to fight over Miraval through 2024, which is not connected to their divorce proceedings.
The Miraval case is still ongoing and awaiting its own outcome.
