In Bangladesh, the ‘Anti-Discrimination Students’ Movement’ has proposed scrapping the 1972 constitution, calling the organization ‘Mujibist’. He says that this constitution causes India’s ‘aggression’. The organization has prepared a new manifesto for constitutional change which is scheduled to be released on December 31. On his move, the BNP said and termed his proposal tantamount to giving power to the history of the Constitution. The party said that if there is any flaw in the constitution, it cannot be corrected, but to abolish it is tantamount to fascism.

On the other hand, the current caretaker government of Bangladesh has distanced itself from its proposal and said it is a personal initiative that has nothing to do with the government. Begum Khaleda Zia’s party ‘Awami League’ has not yet reacted to this, but it could deepen the political divide in Bangladesh. Local political activists say that if this movement gets political support, it will bring about a significant change in the country’s situation, especially when the country is already suffering from a political crisis.

The proposal aims to abolish the 1972 constitution and introduce a new one that would change the political and economic situation of the country. This constitution was formed after the independence of Bangladesh and its historical overview. For this, the proposal to change this constitution is being seen as the foundation of historical heritage.

In the political context, this proposal of Bangladesh may create a new controversy, because here the conflict arises in the midst of the first political tussle. BNP and other products say that it is under this constitution that changes have been made to protect the freedom of the country and it has tried to advance the integrity of the country.

This situation is an indication that Bangladesh politics may see more political upheaval in the coming months, especially if the constitutional change movement is public and is accompanied by public protests. Demonstrations may also take place, political effects and reactions may be seen in different countries of the country.
