Matthew McConaughey has finally opened up about his life after leaving Hollywood.
On the November 20 episode Good trouble with Nick Kyrgios podcast, the 55-year-old star discussed why she left Los Angeles for Texas.
The Academy Award winner, who spent the early years of his acting career in Hollywood and spent prime time starring in hit romantic comedies, moved to Texas in 2014 with his wife, Camilla Eloise McConaughey.
He told the tennis star that he had made a pact with his wife to live in a lone star state until he was offered promising roles that didn’t just typecast him as a rom-com actor.
“‘I’m not going back to work until I’m offered the roles I want to do,'” he shared.
Although he eventually landed roles in other genres, such as his award-winning performance Dallas Buyers ClubMatthew and his spouse chose to stay in the state, where they now raise their three children, Levi, 16, Vida, 14, and Livingston, 11.

Nick then asked the Academy Award-winning actor about his home state, “What does Texas really mean to you?”
“Home, for me, is where a mile feels like a mile. An hour feels like 60 minutes,” replied the actor.
“Home, I feel like I’m on time with relationships, with work, my pace, and my flow in life, it feels like it’s on time.”
