A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after four pedestrians were injured after a car was reported to be driving on the wrong side of the road.
Police were called to Shaftesbury Avenue in west London at 00:45 GMT.
A pedestrian was in a life-threatening condition, the Met Police said.
The driver – a 31-year-old man – was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Police are treating it as an isolated incident, which has no connection to terrorism.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy said: “Detectives are progressing inquiries as part of this investigation.
“It is believed that the suspect was involved in an altercation at a nightclub before getting into his car and taking to the pavement.”
