Stock market holiday Today: Stock markets will not be open for trading on Wednesday, December 25 for Christmas celebrations. The shutdown applies to all market segments, including equities such as the BSE Sensex and Nifty50, derivatives, and the SLB division.
Multi-commodity exchange operations will also remain suspended for both the daily sessions.
In 2025, there are fewer trading holidays, with 14 scheduled closures compared to 16 in the current year, according to the NSE and BSE calendars.
In a volatile trading session on Tuesday, key equity indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 were almost unchanged as investors remained cautious while waiting for fresh market catalysts amid continued foreign fund outflows.

On BSE, 2,019 shares declined, while 1,977 showed gains, and 96 remained stable.
“Near-term market momentum depends on Q3 results and Union Budget outcome, but caution prevails due to strong dollar, higher bond yields, and rate cut concerns,” Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Financial Services said.
Among the top 30 stocks, PowerGrid, State Bank of India, Titan, Tata Steel, IndusInd Bank, UltraTech Cement, Adani Ports and Infosys declined.
On the contrary, positive performance was noted in Tata Motors, ITC, Nestle, Tata Consultancy Services, NTPC and Zomato.
The BSE Small Cap Index gained 0.37 percent, while the BSE Mid Cap Index registered a marginal gain of 0.09 percent.
