Time out of the office is on, the mulled wine is flowing, and the highlighter pens are out as families look forward to the best Christmas TV of the year.
Four names in particular are grabbing the headlines as people gear up for the festive break – Gavin, Stacey, Wallace and Gromit.
But there are plenty of other events for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Here are just a few of the shows scheduled for the coming days.
Christmas Eve
Many viewers will get into the spirit of the season with a festive film – and there are plenty on offer just in time for Christmas.
Channel 4 will be broadcast. A Christmas Carol (at 14:10 GMT) with short animated favorites Snowman (16:15) And surely the greatest of them all Home alone (18:05).
Choosing ITV. It’s a wonderful life. (14:30) while Channel 5 will be broadcast. miserly (09:30) and Cameron Diaz favorite holiday (11:15).
BBC One’s film selections could be a little less festive. Moana (14:20), Participant (15:55) And Ghostbusters: The Afterlife (17:50), but the broadcaster has plenty of other Christmas content this evening.
EastEnders will be broadcast at 19:45, followed by the Christmas edition. Repair shop Organized by Roman Camp (20:15) before the end of the season Strike: Black heart of ink At (21:15).
who are waiting Gavin and Stacey You’ll want to prepare by rewatching the Christmas Day 2019 special, which BBC One repeats tonight at 22:35.
With a special edition of An Embarrassment of Riches for fans of the quiz show on BBC Two Richard Osman’s House of Games (19:15), Celebrity Mastermind (19:45) Just connect. (20:15) And University Challenge (20:45).
on ITV, Coronation Street Fans will be treated to a special episode at 20:45 as Audrey tries to stop Gale from leaving the Cobbles – a storyline leading up to the previously announced exit of actress Helenworth.
There is also an ITV episode. Emmerdale (19:00), countdown to Top 100 TikTok Videos of 2024 (21:15), and Royal Carols: Together at Christmas (19:30), hosted by the Princess of Wales.
And there will be a sweet treat with fans on Channel 4 that evening. Great Christmas baking off (20:00) ahead of the best compilation of the year Google Box (21:15).
Other highlights include: Mortimer and the White House: Gone Fishing (21:15, BBC Two) And Christmas in the Four Seasons: Park Lane (20:15, Channel 5).
Christmas Day
The schedule stars this year. Wallace & Grommet: Vengeance Most Foul (18:10, BBC One), which will see Wallace invent a smart genome that develops its own mind, and Gavin and Stacey: The Finale (21:00, BBC One), to end the sitcom that began in 2007.
Other BBC One highlights include special editions of The weakest link (15:10), Doctor Who: World’s Joy (17:10), EastEnders (19:30) And Call the midwife. (20:00).
gave Come dance hard The Christmas special (15:55) will see Josh Widdecombe, Tice, Vogue Williams, Harry Aquinas-Aretty (Nitro on Gladiators), Tamzin Othwaite and Billy Monger take to the dance floor.
Two programs will be broadcast on BBC Two. Morecambe and Wise (19:20 and 19:55), ahead of their documentary From Roger Moore: With love (21:00) About the life of the late James Bond star.
Meanwhile, on ITV, those who enjoyed Home Alone over Christmas can watch the sequel on Christmas Day, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (15:10).
Then, look for specials from Emmerdale (18:30), Coronation Street (19:00) And Chase (20:00), before the 2022 film Downton Abbey: A New Era (21:00)
But the highlight of their schedule this year is their return. Bullseye (17:25), a reboot of the 1980s and 1990s game show hosted by Freddie Flintoff, with 17-year-old darts prodigy Luke Littler.
Channel 4 is keeping its film offering traditional. Miracle on 34th Street (17:00), before Claudia Winkleman, Mika and Lang Lang return for a special edition. piano at christmas, Filmed at Battersea Power Station (19:05).
The railway children are back. (15:10) will be on Channel 5, before the network dedicates its evening programming to Britain’s favourites. Funny moments (17:15), Christmas Party Songs (19:15) And Songs of the 1980s (21:15).
Boxing Day
Everyone loves a film on December 26 as their stomach settles in, and BBC One has plenty, including Inside out (09:55) Paddington (13:50), of 2017 Beauty and the Beast (15:15) And Matilda (17:40).
Other movie highlights included. Gladiator (21:00, BBC Two) Grease (15:00, ITV), The queen (20:00, ITV3) And Crocodile stalk (16:40, Channel 4).
Movies aside, check out the second festive episode of Call the midwife. (19:30) with Blankety blank (21:00) and the Brookman family reunite for one of the highlights of the schedule, In large numbers (21:40).
Elsewhere, ITV will broadcast. Fictional (17:40) hosted by Mel Giedroyc, as many families retreat from any fallout from their own sports at home.
There is also a special network edition. The masked singer (19:30) And The 1% Club (21:00), while Channel 4 will broadcast Throwing the festive utensils, Hosted by Siobhan McSweeney.
But perhaps the biggest Boxing Day release is the second season. The squid game (Netflix), the sequel to the streamer’s most-watched series of all time.
Many felt that the original story was self-contained and that it wasn’t crying out for a second season, it will be interesting to see where Netflix takes it and if it can have the same impact.
