The Egyptian forward scored two goals and provided two assists in a commanding performance that highlighted Liverpool’s dominance under manager Arne Slott.
Taking advantage of second-placed Chelsea’s earlier 0-0 draw with Everton, Liverpool cemented their position as title favorites heading into the Christmas period.
Tottenham, on the other hand, suffered their eighth league defeat of the season, struggling to cope with Liverpool’s constant pressure and fluid attacking play.
Salah continued his excellent form, becoming the only Premier League player this season to reach double figures in both goals (15) and assists (11).
His two strikes moved him into fourth place on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list with 229 goals, overtaking Billy Liddle. Only Ian Rush (346), Roger Hunt (285) and Gordon Hodgson (241) are ahead of him.
With Salah’s current contract expiring at the end of the season, his performance underscored Liverpool’s urgent need to secure his future. The forward has hinted that this could be his final season at Anfield, adding to interest in his ongoing contributions.
Liverpool opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Trent Alexander-Arnold’s pinpoint cross found Luis Diaz, who slotted past Fraser Forster from six yards.
The Reds doubled their lead in the 36th minute when Dominik Soboszli’s header deflected into the path of Alexis McAllister, who nodded home from close range.
Tottenham briefly rallied when James Maddison capitalized on a McAllister error to score from 18 yards, but Liverpool regained their dominance just before half-time. Soboszlai combined brilliantly with Salah, coolly finishing through the legs of Forster to give the visitors a 3-1 lead.
Salah strengthened Liverpool’s control in the second half, scoring with a tap-in in the 54th minute after Tottenham failed to clear Cody Gakpo’s pass.
Seven minutes later, he struck again from close range, converting a Soboszlai assist for his sixth goal in five matches in all competitions.
While Tottenham managed late goals through Dejan Klosewski and Dominic Solanke, Salah capped his night with a perfectly weighted assist for Diaz in the 85th minute.
Liverpool’s haul of six goals marked the first time in a decade that Tottenham have scored five or more goals at home in a Premier League match. The defeat left Spurs in 11th place, increasing the pressure on manager Ange Postecoglou.
For Liverpool, the result continued an incredible run under Slott, who replaced Jurgen Klopp in the summer. The Reds have now won 21 of their 25 matches this season and have a game in hand over Chelsea.
