In a major step towards institutional excellence and modernization, the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has undertaken an institutional assessment and a consortium led by Ginger Sufrico (France), GME (Uruguay) and Hot Waters Advisory. Signed the Agreement on Reform Consultation (IARC). (Pakistan).
This initiative signifies WAPDA’s commitment to adopt international best practices, improve operations and ensure sustainable growth.
According to a WAPDA statement issued on Saturday, the signing ceremony of the agreement was presided over by WAPDA Chairman Engineer Lt Gen (retd) Sajjad Ghani and was attended by senior members of the authority as well as representatives of consultancy firms.
Speaking on the occasion, General Manager (Hydro) Planning Dr. Khawar Munir highlighted the importance of this initiative of WAPDA. “This reform study is not just a plan, it is a commitment to embrace innovation, modernize operations and ensure sustainable growth through strong institutional reforms,” he said.
IARC is a World Bank funded project with a total cost of Rs 1.14 billion. The IARC effort is designed to thoroughly review WAPDA’s organizational structure, functions and resources.
This comprehensive assessment will provide insight into the organization’s strengths and areas for improvement, ensuring a clear path towards improved performance and effectiveness.
