New Delhi: According to an official statement, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Friday raised the minimum support price (MSP) for fair average quality of milling copra to Rs 11,582 per quintal and for ball copra to Rs 12,100 for the 2025 marketing season. Rs per quintal.

The MSP has been increased as per the government’s decision to fix the MSP for crops at a level of at least 1.5 times the all-India average cost of production, the statement said. .

“The government has increased the MSP for milling copra and ball copra from Rs 5,250 per quintal and Rs 5,500 per quintal for marketing season 2014 to Rs 11,582 per quintal and Rs 12,100 per quintal for marketing season 2025,” 1250 per quintal and 120 per cent, respectively. ” said the statement.

National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED) and National Cooperative Consumer Federation (NCCF) will continue to function as Central Nodal Agencies (CNAs) for procurement of copra and desiccated coconut under the Price Support Scheme (PSS). , the statement added.

The main objective of central procurement is to ensure that farmers get remunerative prices and consumers, especially the weaker sections of the society. Classes should be distributed at reasonable prices. The Center maintains buffer stocks for food security and price stability. Similarly, the central government provides price support for paddy, coarse grains and wheat through FCI and state agencies.

All foodgrains (wheat and paddy) conforming to the prescribed specifications offered for sale at specified centers are procured by public procurement agencies at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), including declared bonus, if any. Farmers have the option to sell their produce to FCI/State agencies at the MSP or in the open market which is beneficial to them.
