Former Prime Minister Corwyn Jones will be made a life peer by Downing Street.
Former Cardiff West MP Kevin Brennan is also set for a House of Lords high.
Mr. Jones was the first minister. From 2009 to 2018, until he resigned. In the context of Death of sacked Welsh Government minister Carl Sargeant.
He has been on the political scene of the then Welsh Assembly since devolution began in 1999, when he was elected at the age of 32 to become AM for Bridgend.
He served in a number of cabinet jobs under predecessor Rhodey Morgan, including Minister for Agriculture and Counsel General.
He succeeded Mr Morgan as party leader and first minister in 2009, keeping his party in government after the 2011 and 2016 elections, albeit with minority administrations.
Mr Jones, called to the Bar in 1989, is Master of the Bench at Gray’s Inn and Professor of Law at Aberystwyth University. He is a member of the Privy Council.
Mr Brennan, a Labor politician, has been a Member of Parliament since 2001. He withdrew in this year’s elections..
He served as whip and held three different ministerial posts under two Labor prime ministers, Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.
Former MEP, MP and Wales Office minister Sir Wayne David will replace Mr Brennan as Chief Special Adviser to the First Minister in the new year.
First Minister Alvind Morgan thanked Mr Brennan, saying: “I know he will continue to serve the interests of Wales in his new role.”
