An Oregon city has asked residents to stop staring googly at pieces of art.

The US city of Oregon has asked its residents to stop staring googly at the city’s artworks such as statues and murals.

“While the googly eyes placed on various pieces of art around the city may make you laugh, it costs money to remove them in order not to damage the art,” a Facebook post by the city said. Written with reference to the post Sky News.

“While we don’t condone flowers, leis and Santa hats, let’s stay away from adhesives, graffiti and anything that could damage the art,” added the band city.

However, the city’s residents have no intention of stopping their antics as one responded on Facebook saying, “It will cost $0 to leave them” as many believed the googly eyes were one of the artworks. Good addition.

“My daughter and I walked past the flaming chicken today and shared the biggest laugh,” one woman wrote as she used the nickname for the “Phoenix Rising” statue in the band.

“We love googly eyes. This city is so full. Let’s have fun!” Another wrote that people have no intention of stopping now.

While many others said the city should focus on more important issues that are giving people something to be happy about instead of spending time and money on removing googly eyes.

According to René Mitchell, the band’s communications director, the council spent $1,500 to remove the googly eyes from seven of the city’s eight statues.

Mitchell added that they have started treating some of the artefacts, which are made of bronze and steel. As for the Phoenix Rising statue, it may also need repainting.
