Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Director General Law and Human Rights Ghulam Ali has said that the government is committed to protect human rights in all sections of the society.
Addressing a function to mark International Human Rights Day at University of Peshawar, he reiterated the importance of collaboration between government institutions, civil society and academia to build a more just and fair society.
The event was jointly organized by the Directorate General of Law and Human Rights of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) and Blue Vans.
Rizwanullah, Regional Coordinator of NCHR, Qamar Naseem of Blue Vans, representatives of PCSW, Child Protection Commission, Asim Imam Commissioner RTS KP, human rights activists, university staff and students.
The purpose of the event was to promote awareness of human rights, highlight ongoing efforts for human rights and promote collective commitment to uphold human dignity and justice.
“This day serves as a reminder that sustained and collective efforts are needed to protect and promote human rights. The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is committed to ensuring justice, equality and inclusion for all,” DG said.
The program featured thought-provoking panel discussions, speeches and interactive sessions on the theme of this year’s Human Rights Day: Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All.
