Foreign ministers of five Arab countries and members of the Astana process have warned that the continuation of the Syrian crisis is not only a dangerous development for this country, but it is a serious threat to the security of the region and the world.

Top diplomats from Arab states including Iraq, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, as well as Astana countries Iran, Russia and Turkey, issued a joint statement at the end of their meeting in Doha on Saturday, sources said.

The statement said that we should try to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis that would lead to the cessation of military operations and the protection of civilians.

These countries also stressed the need for coordinated international efforts to increase humanitarian assistance to the Syrian people and ensure their access to sustainable and unhindered aid.

The crisis has taken hold in Syria recently after the resurgence of armed groups who, with the support of some countries and the arrival of fresh foreign forces, have launched large-scale and lightning attacks on the northwestern regions of the country. .

Syrian Defense Minister General Imad Abbas confirmed in a statement on Thursday that rebel groups are being supported militarily and logistically by some countries in the region and beyond.

Iran, one of the guarantors of the Astana process, made its position clear and reiterated its support for the Syrian government and people in the fight against armed groups.
