KARACHI, QUETTA: The port city witnessed a further drop in temperature, recording 11 degrees Celsius amid the current cold wave that has gripped the city and other parts of the country.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the minimum temperature in Karachi is expected to be between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius, courtesy of northeasterly winds blowing at a speed of eight kilometers per hour and humidity levels. It is 36 percent.

The drop in temperature comes after the Meteorological Department warned of a “mild cold wave” in Sindh last week, with nighttime temperatures forecast to hover between 7-9°C.

However, the metropolis is not the only city facing changing weather conditions as the mercury has also dropped below zero in various parts of Balochistan amid the current cold wave in the province.

The minimum temperature was recorded in Quetta, the provincial capital, at minus 4 degrees Celsius, while it was minus 6 degrees Celsius in Kalat.

Other areas with lower recorded temperatures include Nokundi (0°C), Gwadar (7°C) and Sabi (9°C).

On the other hand, people are facing difficulties due to cold winds as well as freezing of water and gas shutdown in Ziarat.
