Ahmad al-Sharaa, the leader of Hayat al-Shamab al-Sham, announced that all government institutions would be under the supervision of Prime Minister Muhammad Ghazi al-Jalali until the formal transfer of power. He told his fighters to stay away from institutions and work within the law. He said that it is forbidden for any military force to go to the institution in Damascus and air traffic was also banned.
A senior army officer told Reuters that the military command had informed Syria that Bashar al-Assad’s rule had now ended. Hadi al-Bahra, the leader of the Syrian Update main movement, also confirmed that “Bashar al-Assad no longer exists” in Damascus.
