An accident occurred due to oil spillage on the local jetty bridge of Karachi

KARACHI: Traffic was severely affected on Saturday after a collision between a tanker and a trailer truck on Karachi’s busy local jetty bridge due to spillage of oil from the tanker.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported as a result of the accident but commuters faced problems with traffic on the bridge, which is a major commercial route that also connects to the port.

The disruption followed an early morning collision and traffic police said efforts were on to restore traffic around the local jetty bridge.

A trailer collided with an oil tanker at the local jetty bridge at 5 am causing considerable damage. The traffic police said that the nozzle of the tanker was affected, which spilled oil on the road.

Traffic police say that heavy machinery will be deployed to remove the trailer from the scene. Meanwhile, a large number of people gather to collect oil spilled from the road.

Thousands of liters of oil spilled on the road. Due to the slippery road, people slipped and fell, causing many injuries. The track leading to Maripur remained completely closed.

The police have taken both the trailer and the oil tanker into custody and started investigating the incident.
