ADELAIDE: Australia are full of pride heading into the second Test against India in Adelaide, captain Pete Cummins said on Thursday, as his team looks to bounce back from a crushing defeat in Perth.
The hosts suffered a 295-run defeat in the first Test but cruised into Friday’s day-night match at the Adelaide Oval with an impressive record. They have won all the pink-ball Tests they have played there, including against India in 2020-21 when the visitors were bowled out for 36 runs.
Josh Hazlewood was the chief destroyer, taking 5-8, but this time side strain ruled him out, replaced by pacer Scott Boland. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh was declared fit in an unchanged squad in Perth after pulling up with a back strain.
Cummins admitted the pressure was on, but said he was used to it. He said that any Test match is stressful. “When you’re down, there’s a little bit more, especially when you’re at home. “But we’ve been in similar situations at the World Cup or other series … we love playing here, we know that last time. We weren’t at our best last week and we have some things to work on.
