A parliamentary session in the Bahamas was dramatically suspended after an opposition MP threw a ceremonial mace out a window.
After this incident, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Shannon Cartwright was stopped by police and authorities.
Speaker Patricia Dukes told parliament that the deputy speaker was hit and taken to hospital during the scuffle, while a police officer was injured in the leg.
Local media said the uproar began after Ms Dukes refused to allow opposition leader Michael Pintard to lead a US indictment accusing the federal police of involvement in drug-trafficking.
Throwing donkeys out of windows has historical significance in the country.
In 1965, the leader of the opposition did the same in an event called “Black Tuesday” to push for electoral change.
