Prince Harry has addressed ongoing speculation about his six-year marriage to Meghan Markle.
Duke of Sussex, who joined. The NYT Columnist Andrew Ross Sorkin spoke about the public attention and scrutiny of his marriage, in a wide-ranging interview on stage in New York for the Deal Book Summit 2024.
Sorkin tells Harry that he gave him “news from Google” and there have been many articles speculating about their going out alone and what it means for them.
“Since you invited me, you should have known!” Prince Harry chuckled as the audience laughed.
Sorkin responded, “True. Is that normal for you? The other subject is — he’s in California, you’re in New York — they say, ‘Well, what’s going on with these two, right?’ Is it a good thing for you, in a way, that you are so interested?
“No, it’s definitely not a good thing,” Harry said, referring to the alleged purchase of his Portugal home and his marriage. “Apparently. We’ve bought or moved houses 10, 12 times. We’ve also been divorced apparently 10, 12 times. So, it’s just like that, huh?”
He continued, “It’s hard to live with, but that’s why you ignore it.”
“The people I feel sorry for the most are the trolls,” Harry added. “Their hopes just build and build, and it’s like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.’ And then it doesn’t. So, I feel sorry for them. Honestly, I do.”
Harry also admitted to drawing attention to them, saying that he had “no doubt” that his conversation with Sorkin would be “spun or twisted against me in some way, and maybe yourself.” There will be constant trolling.”
“I can only apologize for that, but you invited me, so it’s not my fault,” Prince Harry quipped.
The statement comes amid reports that Prince Harry and Meghan are “professionally drifting apart” while their joint ventures have not received much attention. There were also reports that the couple bought a holiday home in Portugal in an attempt to get a ‘golden visa’ to travel around Europe more easily.
