Controlling unrest is the responsibility of the government.

LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed has said that it is the responsibility of the government to prevent the recent incidents of terrorism and unrest and emphasized that the state should play a legal role to solve these problems.

The Speaker said this while talking to the media on the occasion of his visit to Sundus Foundation, where he visited the patients under treatment and distributed gifts among them. In response to a question, he remarked that dialogue is necessary for the establishment of peace, but those wielding sticks in the name of protest should be stopped.

Appreciating the humanitarian services of Sundus Foundation, the speaker said that Sundus Foundation is providing unforgettable services for Thalassemia patients and we will provide all possible support to further this noble cause.

He announced that all members of Punjab Assembly will donate one month salary to Sundus Foundation. The speaker expressed his commitment to speedy legislation on the issue of thalassemia, with the aim of adopting global exemplary models for effective prevention of the disease. Notable participants on the occasion included Sohail Waraich, Khalid Abbas Dar, Sundus Foundation COO Abdul Sattar, Faisal Hameed, and Imran Mehr.

The Speaker also paid tribute to the martyred soldiers of Rangers and said that the Sundus Foundation under the leadership of Sohail Waraich and other important personalities is successfully carrying forward the good cause started by the late Manubhai.
