Eberflis said he wanted to pocket his last timeout so the Bears could use it if they got a few yards before a field goal attempt — but that never happened.

Aberfels then met with the media on Friday to discuss the situation again – and was fired later in the day.
The decision to have Aberfils speak to the media on Friday and then fire him was an interesting one that was torn apart on social media.
Team CEO and president Kevin Warren discussed Friday’s events to paint a clearer picture, saying the front office has Ahead of Friday’s conference, no decision had yet been reached on Aberfils’ fate.
But, he admitted that Bears messed up the ordeal.

“It happens a lot around the league where a head coach finds out he’s been fired, and he finds out before the organization tells him – and that’s something we’ve done. The coach released a statement on Saturday. Expressing his “heartfelt gratitude”. Aberfils also thanked the fans for their support and passion and left his players with kind words.
Eberflus left the Bears with a 14-32 record, and Chicago became the third NFL team to fire a head coach this season.
