Rawalpindi: Special Court Judge Amjad Ali Shah issued contempt notices to CPO Rawalpindi, SSP Operations and SHO Police Station New Town for not allowing Imran Khan to meet his lawyers despite court orders.

The court has directed the three police officers to submit their reply on (today) Tuesday. The court had earlier directed the Newtown police to facilitate a meeting between the former chairman and his legal team, as requested by his lawyers.

However, despite the necessary court orders, the lawyers were not allowed to meet their client. Lawyers including Mohammad Faisal Malik, Ghulam Hasnain Murtaza Sambal and Raja Mateen had filed a petition saying that they needed to consult the former chairman. Challenge the court order granting physical remand in case number 2831 of Newtown police station. Moreover, in case number 708 of RA Police Station (GHQ assault case), they required further counselling.

The court disposed of the petition ordering the jail superintendent to facilitate the meeting of the lawyers inside the jail with the investigating officer Rashid Kayani. Despite these instructions, the lawyers were denied access to their client, prompting the court to take action against the police officials involved.
