CGI Movement launched a clean-up drive at F-9 Park.

ISLAMABAD: The Clean and Green Islamabad (CGI) movement has launched an active cleanliness campaign in the parks of the federal capital, starting from Fatima Jinnah F-9 Park on Sunday.

Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, Chairman of CGI Movement, along with his team, spearheaded the initiative by actively participating in cleaning the park using special garbage picking sticks with the aim of making Islamabad cleaner and greener. The CGI team, dressed in designated uniforms and equipped with waste-picking equipment, collected the garbage and filled about ten large biodegradable waste bags. Additionally, they distributed awareness pamphlets and encouraged park visitors to join the campaign spreading the message of environmental responsibility.

Among the prominent people who participated in the campaign were Rubina Nasir, Assistant Vice President of First Women Bank, Fatima Hasan, Subia, Ayesha, Zia Chaudhry, Owais Malik, Shehbaz Chauhan and others. Addressing the participants, Chairman Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari emphasized the importance of cleanliness as a collective duty: “Cleanliness is half of faith, and maintaining a clean environment is our collective responsibility. Citizens should avoid throwing garbage in parks and public places, instead carry waste bags for proper disposal. Food wrappers and trash should be placed in bins, not scattered carelessly. This campaign is not just an event but an effort to create environment friendly habits among our people.

Bakhtavari pointed out that a large part of the waste collected consists of plastic bags, which pose serious risks to health and the environment. He urged citizens to adopt biodegradable alternatives and stressed the urgent need to end the use of plastic bags. He added: “There is a need for collective participation in tree planting campaigns, cleanliness drives and awareness initiatives to improve the environment and protect health.
