Cillian Murphy returns as the scarred Tommy Shelby for Peaky Blinders

Peaky Blinders fans, get ready for the return of Tommy Shelby!

Cillian Murphy was seen in full character at the iconic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct as filming ramped up for the highly-anticipated feature film, The Immortal Man

Dressed in Shelby’s signature overcoat and baker boy cap, the 48-year-old Oscar winner, joined by co-star Peaky Lee, reprises his role as loyal ally Johnny Dawgs.

Cast and crew took the Birmingham-based drama to the scenic heights of north-east Wales on Sunday, with cameras capturing an intense scene aboard a narrowboat navigating the Llangollen Canal.

Adding to the drama, Murphy applied a hideous artificial scar to his cheek, indicating that Tommy Shelby had embroiled himself in another violent encounter.

Helicopters circled overhead as they filmed the audacious sequence on the 126-foot-high waterway, a Grade I-listed wonder and UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers breathtaking views of the River Dee below.

Fans were delighted when the streaming giant confirmed the news with a glimpse of the script shared on X (formerly Twitter) in June.

Director Tom Harper, who directed episodes of the series more than a decade ago, reflected on the show’s meteoric rise: “When I first directed Peaky Blinders, we didn’t know But we knew there was something in the chemistry of the cast and the writing that felt explosive.”

With creators Steven Knight, Murphy and Harper returning, the feature film promises to recapture the electrifying magic that turned the TV series into a cultural phenomenon.
