Pakistan’s education system is poor when it comes to higher education. If we compare our educational environment and facilities with prosperous countries, we come up short. Our system suffers from inadequate resources and unequal opportunities. One of the major flaws of our education system is the unfairness that pervades the declaration of results. It is disappointing to see people awarded high honors despite lacking the required skills. It calls into question the integrity of our educators, who are expected to uphold the values of fairness and impartiality.
As custodians of knowledge, teachers must be fair by recognizing students’ hard work and dedication without prejudice. Unfortunately, prejudice and discrimination often rear its head, undermining the sanctity of the teaching profession. It is high time that our academics realize that they will be ‘accountable to a higher power’ for their actions.
