Hartford, Kan. — UConn Leading scorer Alex Carbone Did not play for the second-ranked Huskies 99-45 win against Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday night.
The university announced that Qaraban would not play until about 30 minutes before tip-off.
He was taken to hospital after suffering a head injury late in the loss. Dayton in the seventh-place game at the Maui Invitational. Caraban was cleared to return to Connecticut. He rode a stationary bike at the XL Center while his teammates warmed up for Saturday’s game before joining him on the bench.
“Alex is great,” coach Dan Hurley said. “It was a mild shock. Everyone treated him very carefully as we should. Alex was able to travel back with us. All his tests were really clear, and he felt much better. is doing.”
Caraban is the only returning starter from last year’s national championship team. He is the leading scorer for the Huskies with 15.9 points per game and is tied for the team lead with 14 blocked shots.
It was only the second game Carbon missed in his third season with the Huskies.
