KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Friday said that the protest organized by a certain political party in Islamabad resembled a circus with the participation of “jokers”, but that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was not involved in any political activity. He is against banning the party.

However, the demand for the release of a specific individual was fundamentally wrong, he said while speaking to the media after attending a conference at a local hotel.

Referring to the difficulties related to the implementation of Governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shah said that implementation of Governor’s rule has become very difficult. He recalled that during the previous government of PTI there was a daily discussion about Governor’s rule in Sindh.

When asked about the Council of Common Interests (CCI), Shah expressed concern over the federal government’s failure to convene a meeting of the CCI, which he considers a constitutional requirement. “It has been nine months since the last CCI meeting, and this is not just my concern but the entire country’s problem,” he added.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the water crisis cannot be resolved without the CCI meeting, stating that no new canals are being constructed.

On the issue of Sindh’s water rights, he reiterated the stand of the People’s Party and said that not even a single drop of Sindh’s water will be given to anyone. “We will neither give up our rights nor claim any other,” he asserted.

He recalled that martyr Ms. Benazir Bhutto had protested against the Kalabagh Dam at Kamo Shaheed, and reiterated the PPP’s continued opposition to its construction. He criticized those who used to withdraw their stand during the debate on the anti-Kalabagh dam resolutions but now are silent.

In response to criticism from nationalist parties, Shah pointed out that some nationalist groups did not attend the JUI-F conference simply because the PPP was invited, suggesting that their real The problem is with PPP. He asserted that we raise the rights of Sindh at every forum and are not afraid to speak on any platform. He reiterated PPP’s unwavering stand regarding the protection of Sindh’s rights and water resources and concluded his speech by stressing the party’s determination to protect them on every platform.
