LAHORE: Lahore Development Authority (LDA) teams conducted an operation against illegal commercial buildings and fee defaulters on Thursday.
The operation was conducted in Gulberg, New Garden Town, Faisal Town, Allama Iqbal Town, Shadman, Gulshan Ravi, Wapda Town, Defense Road and College Road townships and sealed 96 properties and demolished several illegal constructions.
The sealed properties include private schools, offices, cafes, bakeries, restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies, salons, shops and others. Several notices were issued to these properties prior to the operation.
Meanwhile, LDA teams continued operations against illegal constructions and encroachments in various societies to secure their valuable properties.
Under the direction of DG LDA Tahir Farooq, LDA teams conducted operations at F One Block, R One Block, Revenue Society and Finance and Trade Center in Johar Town. The teams removed temporary encroachments from several shops and directed workshops and shopkeepers to remove encroachments from road and green belts. The LDA teams issued a two-day notice to the workshops located on Samsani Road, Johar Town to remove the encroachments. The operation to remove shacks from commercial plots in FTC Johar Town continued for the second day as well.
Meanwhile, a meeting was held regarding LDA Avenue One and Jubilee Town under the chairmanship of DG LDA Tahir Farooq. In the meeting, a briefing was given in the open court about the actions taken on the complaints of the citizens related to the two housing schemes and the ongoing works of installation of boundary wall and barriers at LDA Avenue One. The meeting was also briefed about the ongoing development works in various blocks of the scheme. A drive to remove encroachments and cattle is underway in Avenue One and Jubilee Town.
DG LDA directed measures to facilitate the residents of LDA Avenue One and Jubilee Town. He said that for the convenience of the residents of the scheme, a concrete mechanism should be made to solve the security and cleanliness issues.
