Rawalpindi: Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Thursday sealed seven illegal markets and three residential buildings on Dhamial Kalial and Chak Baily Khan roads on the instructions of Director General (DG) Kanza Murtaza.
According to the RDA spokesperson, the RDA Enforcement Squad conducted a targeted operation against unauthorized commercial and residential buildings on Dhamiyal Kalial Road, GT Road and Chak Baily Khan Road in Rawalpindi. He said that during the operation, the squad sealed seven illegal and unauthorized trading markets and three houses.
This action was taken by the enforcement squad which included Assistant Director Building Control, Building Inspectors and other officials. The owners of the properties constructed buildings in violation of the approved plans and maps.
Despite being issued advance notices by the RDA, the owners continued to flout the rules and regulations in violation of the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and the RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2021 and required approvals and no-objection certificates. Constructed illegal commercial buildings without obtaining The spokesperson said that the DG has directed the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) wing to take strict action against encroachments, unauthorized constructions and illegal commercial activities. The Building Control Wing was also directed to survey illegal residential and commercial buildings.
