LAHORE: Punjab University and Brunel University of London have signed a memorandum of understanding to promote academic and research activities through joint efforts.

In this regard, the MoU signing ceremony was held here on Thursday in the committee room of Punjab University VC Office. Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Brunel University of London Prof. Dr. Sean Holmes, Head PU School of Communication Studies Prof. Dr. Nosheena Saleem, Director External Linkages Prof. Dr. Yamina Salman and others were present on this occasion. According to the MoU, the two universities will jointly strengthen the academic relationship between the institutions. They will work on educational resources, scholars, exchange of students for study, research and training programs. Dr. M. Ali said that the MoU will benefit both institutions. He emphasized the need to increase mutual cooperation between the institutions of the two countries for the promotion of research.

PU, UET VCs discuss promotion of higher education.

Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. M. Ali met University of Engineering and Technology Lahore Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Muneer in his office on Thursday. During the meeting, both the VCs shared their views on the development of higher education, its challenges and the importance of research culture in innovation. They also shared their experiences and discussed the modernization, growth and sustainability of the university.

Dr. Shahid Munir pledged to benefit from Dr. M. Ali’s guidance and advice in the future as well. The Vice-Chancellor of Punjab University expressed hope that UET will achieve a prominent position in the fields of knowledge and research under the leadership of Dr. Shahid Munir.

Symposium on Cattle Diseases

A National Symposium on ‘Bovine Brucellosis and Control Strategies’ was held at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) here on Thursday. UVAS Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younis presided over the inaugural session of the symposium while Emeritus Prof. Dr. Masood Rabbani, Director Institute of Microbiology (IOM) Prof. Dr. Aftab Ahmed Anjum, researchers, stakeholders, healthcare professionals, dairy farmers, UVAS faculty members participated. And there were students. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yunus said that brucellosis is one of the zoonotic diseases that adversely affects livestock production and causes economic loss to livestock farmers. He asked MPhil and PhD scholars to select topics for research paper to address the problem of livestock and dairy sector.
