ISLAMABAD: The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) of NDMA has issued a weather alert regarding the impending westerly wave affecting the western parts of the country from November 28.

The system is predicted to bring a mix of rain, wind, thundershowers and snow to different areas. There is a possibility of rain, wind and thundershowers in the western and upper regions of the country, snow is likely in the hilly areas.

Rain and thundershowers are forecast over Potohar region and nearby areas. Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Malakand and Hazara divisions are likely to experience thundershowers and snowfall at higher elevations. In contrast, the plains of Punjab are likely to remain dry, although smog and fog may persist, especially during the morning and night hours.

The NDMA has appealed to local authorities, emergency services and the public to remain alert and take precautionary measures. Accordingly, travelers in northern and mountainous areas should be cautious due to slippery roads and poor visibility. Farmers are advised to protect their crops from possible weather damage.
