PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Wednesday directed the authorities to speed up the work of estimating the financial losses in Karam district so that the affected people can be compensated.

He issued these instructions while presiding over a high-level meeting to review the latest law and order situation in the troubled district.

According to a handout, the meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Interior Muhammad Abid Majeed and other senior officials.

Officials told the chief minister that a 10-day ceasefire has been agreed between the warring parties in Karam, and talks are underway to resolve the conflict amicably.

He added that law enforcement officials are being deployed at key locations to maintain law and order, while estimating the damage to property during the clashes in the area.

It was informed that a security plan and standard operating procedures have been issued to ensure safe movement of residents in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister appreciated the ceasefire agreement and hoped that this temporary ceasefire would pave the way for lasting peace in the region.

He emphasized the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue according to Pakhtun traditions.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to speed up the estimation of financial losses to provide immediate compensation to the victims and directed them to ensure financial assistance to the families of those who lost their lives in the conflict and that the amount To be distributed without delay.

“Restoration of lasting peace in the region is the top priority of the provincial government,” he said, adding that all available options would be utilized to achieve this objective.
