Sarah Michelle Gellar keeps fans guessing with a cryptic nod. I know what you did last summer..
The 47-year-old actress sparked a frenzy after sharing a photo of a director’s chair emblazoned with the title of the slasher film on Instagram.
Tagging her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr., and reboot director Jennifer Keaton Robinson, Geller laughed, saying, “Scooby-Doo 3 is coming soon…”
In her Instagram Stories, Gellar captioned the same photo, “Meeting my man @realfreddyprinz and my girl @jenkyton,” referring to Prince Jr.’s involvement in the upcoming reboot.
Both Gellar and Prince Jr. starred in the original 1997 film, with Gellar tragically dying alongside Helen Shavers. Notably, they also acted together. Scooby-doo.
Robinson, the director, added to the uproar by reposting Geller’s story with the quip, “Before you DM me, she refuses to be dead.” Gellar doubled down on this, telling People magazine in October, “I’m dead,” but acknowledged an “unofficial” role in the reboot as a continuity consultant.
“My best friend [Jennifer Kaytin Robinson] is directing it, so we joke that I have an unofficial job, which is I’m the continuity,” Geller explained. “I always say to him, ‘Okay, this will happen, or these characters. It will not happen with.’
