PESHAWAR: The Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) on Wednesday demanded the provincial government to take action against the alleged brutality of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers at Islamabad’s D Chowk across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Declare fasting and mourning.
The forum also asked the provincial government to compensate the families of PTI workers. The demands were made during a protest organized by ILF Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Khyber Road, where activists blocked traffic for a while to express their anger.
The demonstration was led by ILF leader Alam Khan Adanzai and others. Speakers at the demonstration condemned the federal and Punjab governments as well as the Islamabad administration, accusing D Chowk of using excessive force against unarmed PTI workers and leaders.
The ILF leaders demanded action from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council, urging them to declare a province-wide strike over the alleged disappearance of a member of the KP Bar Council during the protest.
The forum demanded the provincial government to observe three days of mourning and announce financial assistance to the affected families. The ILF workers also promised free legal assistance for the release of PTI workers detained during the protest in Islamabad. Will continue to fight with the victims of this injustice and for their rights,” said an ILF activist.
